| Corporate and individual sponsorship for CAWC's annual gala is as critical as ever. Domestic violence
is not confined to the home, it has a disturbing impact in the
workplace and on society:
· On a national level,
domestic violence costs employers $3 billion to $5 billion
annually due to employee absenteeism
· The average charge for
medical services for injuries to abused women and children
was $1,633 per person per year, for a national cost of $857.3
million
· 75% of battered women
use work time to contact doctors, lawyers, shelters, counselors,
family and friends because they cannot do so from home. Annual
cost to employers: $13 billion
· Estimates based on medical
treatment, loss of productivity and quality of life have indicated
costs to the nation may be as high as $67 billion annually
· 50% of employed battered
women have lost a job in part due to domestic violence
Every year, CAWC, the oldest and
one of the largest domestic violence agencies in Illinois, serves
more than 3,000 women and children by providing emergency safe
shelter, crisis counseling, advocacy, family trauma therapy,
education and awareness training and essential intervention
services. Please consider joining our generous sponsors in this
impoortant cause.
