Greenhouse Shelter is Chicago's
oldest program for victims of domestic violence. Full to capacity
365 days a year, Greenhouse served 418 women and children in
2007. Over 67% of Greenhouse residents are children fleeing
domestic violence with their mothers. Greenhouse residents often
walk away from everything they own when they leave abusive relationships.
Mothers often arrive in the night with their children wrapped
only in blankets.
If your office, organization, church
or family would like to help the women and children of Greenhouse
Shelter, we are currently in great need of school supplies and strollers for our youngest Greenhouse Residents! All donations can be dropped off at our administrative offices at 1116 N. Kedzie, 5th floor, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Unfortunately we are unable to provide pick-up service for in-kind donations. Please also note that we do not accept clothing donations.
