Sounds of Silence Spring Benefit Gala

On April 12, 2008  CAWC gave recognition and a voice to the too often “silent” crime of violence between individuals and within families with its 22nd annual spring gala – Sounds of Silence held at Macy’s historic Walnut Room on State Street.  300 guests enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing, along with a silent and live auction of unique items and experiences.

Special features at the event included unique table center pieces designed by CAWC’s Children’s Group as well as beautiful jewelry and clothing created by a group of women receiving services through CAWC.

The event also launched  CAWC’s new name – Connections for Abused Women and their Children as well as its new   tagline Rebuilding Lives,   Renewing Hope.

Corporate Sponsors for the event included:  Allstate, Ariel Mutual Funds. Grey Goose Vodka, Korn/Ferry International,   KPMG, Northern Trust, SGDP, Sheffeld’s, Sloan and Associates, and Winston & Strawn. Co-chairs for the event were   Jason Schmitt and Marcello Navarro. The event planning committee consisted Alice Castillo, Kate Covington, Anna   Debecki, Barbara Hoffman, Heather Lipscher, Maria Ocho, Jan Paul and Lynn Raymond.

The event raised over $180,000 to support CAWC’s life-saving services to thousands of domestic violence victims and   their children each year.
