Greenhouse Shelter, a program of Connections for Abused Women and their Children, formerly Chicago Abused Women Coalition, is Chicago's oldest program for victims of domestic violence. Full to capacity 365 days a year, Greenhouse served 418 women and children in 2007. To help meet the daily living needs of these women and children, donations of the following products are greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at CAWC's administrative offices at 1116 N. Kedzie (between Division and Augusta), 5th Floor, Chicago, anytime between 9 and 5 pm Monday through Friday. Unfortunately we are unable to provide pick-up service.

 

              * Art supplies (brushes, paint, clay, coloring books, colored pencils)
              * Over the counter cold, flu, and cough remedies, aspirin, band-aids, first aid items
              * Transit cards (anything except a 30 day pass)
              * Journals
              * Family size toiletries
              * Family size laundry detergent
              * Diapers (especially large sizes 4, 5 and 6)
              * Construction paper, drawing paper, butcher paper
              * Household cleaning supplies
              * Baby wipes, lotions, shampoos
              * New underwear and socks (for women and children – all sizes)
              * Grocery store gift cards
              * Small self-care gift bags
              * Pocket or monthly calendars
              * Paper products - toilet paper, paper towel, napkins
              * Towels and wash clothes

              * NEW backpacks and school supplies- Paper, scissors, glue, notebooks, crayons, binders, calculators.

               * NEW clothing for babies, children, teens and adult women (all sizes):
                            * PJ's/nightgowns
                            * Sweat outfits
                            * T-shirts/slacks
                            * Sweaters
                            * Jackets
                            * Hats & mittens

             NO USED CLOTHING OR SHOES
